The Story of Jirka
Jirka Cibelius was actively involved in football for SC Xaverov Horní Počernice at a professional level throughout his youth and his greatest achievement at that time was playing in the second highest Czech football league. He worked as a car mechanic until his accident in 2017, when he slipped on an icy surface while catching the bus in the morning and the subsequent spinal cord injury caused paraparesis of his lower limbs.
However, his sporting spirit was not denied and Jirka adapted to the new life situation in his own way. For Tatran Střešovice he plays parafloorball, this year he discovered his love for para-athletics, but his greatest sporting successes are in the Czech Republic basketball team, which this year achieved unprecedented success in the form of a gold medal from the European Championship, when they won all five games and secured promotion to Division B, and last but not least, he plays basketball for the team Pražští jezdci (wheelchair basketball league).
Since 2022, Jirka has been working for Ultina, where he services wheelchairs and Triride electric drives.
Together with his wife Tereza, he raises their preschool-age daughter Hedvička, who also enjoys sports. They spend their free time together on trips, playing games or at the cinema.
